Why?
Why I Value Cosmetic Surgery
Aesthetic surgery is the ultimate reconstructive surgical challenge. To undertake a cosmetic procedure, a surgeon must have the enormity of ego, and the skills to support it, to believe that "normal" can be made "better." The surgeon must have a keen eye for surface anatomy and for aesthetics, be sure about every detail of the procedure, and be attentive to the patient's psyche. Management of a complication requires a master surgeon who can resolve the physical problem and cope with the emotional turmoil that invariably surrounds it.
A reconstructive procedure intended to make a physical deformity vanish may be perceived, in a societal sense, as more noble or valuable than an aesthetic case, but reconstructive surgery cannot exist without cosmetic surgery, and vice versa. In order to fulfill the mission of restoring "form and function" to patients, plastic surgeons must continually strive for technical virtuosity and aesthetic perfection. Aesthetic surgery pushes the surgeon to accept nothing but perfection, and aesthetic surgery skills pay enormous dividends for reconstructive patients.
Cosmetic surgery makes reconstructive surgery better, and the two should remain conjoined as the specialty that is plastic surgery.
Why I Devoted My Life to Plastic Surgery
I come from a family of talented health care professionals. I was born to be a surgeon. Every medical discipline is demanding, but plastic surgery requires a special skill because of the precision and artistic ability needed. It has one of the longest and most comprehensive training programs in medicine.
I love the challenge of being both surgeon and artist, paying the closest attention to every detail of an operation or procedure. I take great pride in helping my patients look their best because it gives me tremendous satisfaction and because my results are on display for the world to see.
Reconstructive surgery is not just to make the patient look acceptable, but to improve his or her appearance. The goal is to return "form and function" to patients, while achieving aesthetic perfection.
Being a cosmetic surgeon, as well as a reconstructive surgeon, I strive for beautiful results in everything I do. Whether performing a complex face lift or a simple medical spa treatment like injecting Botox®, I accept nothing less than aesthetic perfection.
Why You Should Feel Good About Your Decision
It used to be that a reconstructive procedure to correct a deformity was socially more acceptable than cosmetic surgery done for purely aesthetic reasons. Fortunately, society has come to realize the value of both. A desire to look your best is not simple vanity. Cosmetic surgery that is done correctly can have a remarkably positive effect on a person's mental health, physical wellbeing and quality of life.
So come in for a consultation and let's talk about achieving your goals. You deserve to look your best.

CosmetAssure®
Cosmetic Surgery Insurance
Selecting a board certified plastic surgeon you can trust is the first step to achieving a successful cosmetic outcome. Having plastic surgery can be a life-changing event, that's why it is important to select a plastic surgeon that is qualified, provides a safe environment, and who protects you both before and after your surgery. With CosmetAssure® our patients have the knowledge that Dr. Johnston has planned ahead and taken the precautionary steps to cover them in the event of an eligible loss.
All surgery carries the risk of a complication, including cosmetic surgery. You may think that your regular medical insurance will cover these complications, however, medical insurance may not be enough. The majority of major medical insurance policies have excluded payment for complications if they are the result of an elective cosmetic procedure, even if medically necessary.
"Without a plan following your cosmetic surgery, you may have no safety net. This is why I cover my cosmetic patients undergoing surgery with CosmetAssure®" - Dean L. Johnston, MD
CosmetAssure® is a solution that helps patients who are choosing to have elective cosmetic surgery avoid the financial burden of unexpected post-surgery complications. That's why we enroll all of our cosmetic patients in the CosmetAssure® cosmetic surgery. CosmetAssure® is endorsed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and covers the cost of caring for complications within the first 30 days after cosmetic surgery. Without CosmetAssure®, patients may be left with a financial burden should a complication arise after an elective cosmetic surgery. If your insurance carrier covers the cost of a complication CosmetAssure® will pay your deductible.
Did you know? We are one of the few plastic surgery offices in the Orlando area that provide this important cosmetic surgery insurance to our patients.
Additional questions? View CosmetAssure® Website or call our office today for your cosmetic consultation. With CosmetAssure® we've just removed the financial risk of post-surgical complications for you. This is another way Dr. Johnston serves his patients; in order to make sure you have the best experience possible with your plastic surgery.
