True Story...recently, I was getting dressed one evening to attend a semi-formal social event. I was having a great hair day, and my make-up went on so nicely that day. My slinky cocktail dress fit me just fine. I was early, so I had a few minutes to linger in front of my full length mirror as I was doing last minute checks. Suddenly, I just had to stop and pause a moment! I felt so beautiful! Then, with a twinkle in my eye and under the breathe of my great big smile I said, "Thank you, Dr. J."

I met Dr. Dean Johnston in the ORMC emergency room July, 1990. He happened to be the Plastic Surgeon on call for incoming trauma victims. He performed emergency plastic surgery on my father, who had just had a skill saw accident to his face and skull that completely shredded one whole side of his face. Dr. J's personal compassionate nature eased the traumatic moments at hand for my mother and me. Little did I know back then that my father had the most skilled plastic surgeon in all Central Florida.

Since then and over the years, Dr. J has earned my trust and respect throughout the three surgeries that I underwent in his care. When the moments arrived that I had to make medical decisions for myself, I had always followed his expert advice and foresight, for his confident and professional nature eased me into surgical situations that eventually became the best results ever for me. His leadership and knowledge had always proven time and time again to be the best direction for me. I would trust Dr. Johnston with my life. He once told me, "The enemy to beauty is perfection." I have never forgotten those practical and insightful words, and as I recall from time to time, I envision those words as candidly honest and trusted advice coming forth from a very wise and most experienced plastic surgeon.

I shall always admire his professionalism, his kind and gentle personality, his compassionate bedside manner, but most of all his very talented and gifted surgical hands. I am always very thankful and filled with appreciation for everything he does for me above and beyond the call of duty, because that's just the way he is.

In addition, I was not pleased with the overall experience. Therefore, I was somewhat apprehensive about undergoing another procedure. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for a wonderful job on my surgery. From the first consult, all the way to after surgery checks, the office has been on time and took time with me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great care I received before and after my surgery. Maybe my case was a little different than some. I was intimidated about the procedure that I had to undergo, to remove a growth from behind my skull. Five minutes after meeting you for the first time, I felt at ease about the procedure. You spoke to me as if we were neighbors. You seemed to understand how important the surgery was to me and took the time to explain to me what you had to do, and how you were going to do it in a way that I could understand making it sound as simple as putting a model car together. Day of surgery I showed up at ORMC as scheduled, everything ran like clock work. The morning after surgery was a great day. While there was some discomfort from the surgery, it was minimal and far less painful than the headaches I had been dealing with for seven years. It had surprised me that you replaced part of my forehead and how little discomfort there was. To me the itching of the stitches was more bothersome than any pain I felt.

This comes as a thank you with all my heart to Dr. johnston, who is a very dedicated physician. As you are aware, Dr. johnston did not treat me for the Active and Deep FX Laser, as I was treated elsewhere. Although the care and concern at that facility was genuine, healing was not forthcoming nor was the expertise to remedy the situation. I wanted an second opinion..It was very difficult to find a physician with this particular laser experience or a physician who would see me to give advise to another physician patient...Thank goodness, Dr. Johnston agreed to see me. He literally saved my face and neck area. His knowledge was apparent as he immediately knew what the problem was and how to correct it! Listening to his advice, the second day home I already felt relief. Dr. Johnston took the time to answer all my concerns and offered to follow up in two weeks. At that visit, Dr. Johnston explained because of the cream prescribed early on, there are some cycles to the healing that still have to cycle out. However, because of Dr. Johnston's advice and brilliance my face is visibly 1000% better ...There are no words that can fully express my appreciate for all that you have done for me. Thank you Dr. Johnston for taking care of me and fixing me. I highly recommend Dr. Dean Johnston, he is a caring expert,a down to earth man, simply a remarkable doctor. And Kathy, may I add the staff is also friendly, efficient and considerate. Thank you too for all your assistance.

For many years, I have been so bothered by my flabby tummy and the increase fold of flab on my back. although I have always worked out and tried to eat properly, there seemed to never be a change in my tummy, even when i lost weight. I always said, "one day I am getting a Tummy Tuck." Well, as you know,m that day came. It has been 2 weeks since Dr. Johnston performed the surgery and I feel and look great! I have been faced with a few big decisions to make in my life and elective plastic surgery was one of them. I can honestly say It has been on of the best decisions I have ever made. I work in Advertising and there are many Plastic Surgeons who are customers in my territory, but my friend recommended Dr. Johnston in Orlando/Lake Mary. Since I live 2 hours North of Orlando, I was uncertain about traveling. Once I met Dr. Johnston and his staff, I decided that I wanted him to perform the surgery. My husband and I went to Orlando the night before the surgery so that he could meet the Doctor. Dr. Johnston explained the process of surgery, recovery very thoroughly and offered us to ask questions.

We arrived at the hospital the next morning. Surgery was scheduled for 10 am. Everything was so prompt and exact it truly made me feel as if I received special treatment. We decided not to spend the night in the hospital and returned to our hotel. We saw Dr. Johnston the next morning. He realized that I needed a larger girdle because of the swelling and he offered a staff member to bring a girdle from the Lake Mary office which was 20 minutes away. My surgery was on Wednesday, the following Monday, the sutures and drainage tubes were removed. I was afraid, but he made it as comfortable as possible and again I felt as if I was his only patient.

I want to thank Dr. Johnston, Kathy and staff for the comfort you have given, the professionalism I experienced and the care you have provided and the follow up. You have all made the pre-op process easy and you were exceedingly prompt with providing the paperwork my husband needed to take time off to care for me. The day of the surgery came and I was not nervous because Dr. Johnston came in humming a tune.. That made me feel so re-assured that he is not nervous or uptight, so why should I be. He is so caring and he makes you feel like your his only patient. He is truly a great example of the meaning of "Doctor". I will and have recommended Dr. Dean Johnston to anyone who mentions Plastic Surgery to me or to anyone who I have shared my experience with.

As a young girl growing up, I remember always being unhappy wit my thigh/hip area. Even though I have never been overweight, I was always one size larger on the bottom then the top. Shopping for pants was always difficult and I was forced to stick with certain styles. Straight skirts and pants without tucks were not in my closet. Until about age 54, I never really considered having Liposuction. It was just sort of a dream for me. But when a close friend had a breast augmentation, it inspired me to check into liposuction.

Dr. Johnston was the 2nd doctor that I consulted with about my possible surgery. From the very beginning, I liked Dr. Johnston. In this day and age of our fast paced lives, I did not think that there was a doctor in this world who would give such personal one-on-one attention to his patients. But, Dr. Johnston made me feel as if I was the only patient in the world and that he personally cared enough to find out where I was at in the process of elective surgery and what I expected my outcome to be. I so appreciated his kindness, individual attention, and willingness to answer all of my questions.

I found that choosing to have elective cosmetic surgery was difficult for me. Due to Dr. Johnston's patient attitude and the encouragement that I received from his staff, especially his wife, Kathy, those feelings were alleviated for me. they truly walked through the experience with me.

The most exciting part was just following the surgery, when my husband helped me out of the bed to go home and we both looked down at my new body. I said, "oh my goodness, my saddlebags are gone!" That was the best feeling. At 3 months, I finally went shopping for new clothes and had the most wonderful shopping trip of my life. thank you Dr. Johnston!

Thank you so much for your care and support during my recent breast augmentation. Your office is wonderful! I had a breast augmentation (years ago) and was unhappy with the results. In addition, I was not pleased with the overall experience. Therefore, I was somewhat apprehensive about undergoing another procedure. After meeting with Dr. Johnston and staff, I was comfortable to proceed. Dr. Johnston spend a considerable amount of time with my husband and I explaining in detail the entire process. Kathy and Cheryl were very patient in assisting me with the appropriate sizing. After the procedure, I received excellent care. My surgery was definitely a success and I am very happy with the results! For anyone that is considering plastic surgery, I would strongly encourage them to go visit with your office. I have been very pleased with the results of my tummy tuck and breast lift. As with many women, I had thought about doing this for years! I had stretched and saggy skin from having twins, plus a large vertical c-section scar on my abdomen. The surgery really turned back the clock 30 years for my body! For the first time ever, I have been able to go braless. I went down one pant size with the tummy tuck. My body image has improved. I am much less self conscious and I am finally able to feel comfortable dressing in cloths that show off my new 59 year-old body. Dr. Johnston and his staff have been superb, like a kind and caring family. I would be happy to talk with any potential patients.

Having just turned 50, being a national caliber Master's swimmer and a mother of one, I wanted to give myself a breast augmentation for my birthday present. I visited and met with several doctor's in the Orlando area. I then made my final appointment with Dr. Johnston. On top of being impressed with him, and his staff, we immediately connected on a personal level as well. It turns-out that Dr. Dean Johnston has an extensive swimming background as well!!

He recommeded a procedure that would enable me to get back in the water as quickly as possible and keep my level of fitness. We bonded even more.

On July 3rd of 2001, my life changed forever. Doctors had to perform a mastectomy on my right breast. I was left to cope with fear of cancer and the way it had left me. There are no other words for it but to say that I was deformed and left feeling less than a woman. My weight and age had made my left breast over-sized and hanging to the middle of my abdomen. The day I was waiting to leave for home after my surgery, Doctor Johnston stopped to say hello and told me to come and see him after my chemotherapy. More than a year later, feeling depressed, over weight, and not complete, I walked into his office. He, along with his wife and staff of the most kind and caring people, began to rebuild my life. He not only gave me back my femininity and completed my body; he gave me back my life. Through his encouragement and tough love talks I enrolled into college and obtained a bachelor degree in criminal law. I now work for Homeland Security and I have lost over 25 pounds. I smile now and I am out there life to my fullest. Words could never say what he has done for me, and I thank him, his wife, and staff with all my heart.

Hi! I expect you have heard nurses are the worst critics of doctors; well, I've been a nurse since 1977 and I am happy to report Dr. Johnston is a great doctor. I had breast augmentation done October 2002 and was pleased with all phases of my care by Dr. Johnston. I traveled 180 miles to have Dr. Johnston take care of me and it was worth every mile. He has chosen excellent health care facilities for his patients' surgeries and is personally concerned about providing the best outcome for each individual. At 52, I felt I was too old to consider breast augmentation but my daughter convinced me to see Dr. Johnston. Sometimes you can learn from your kids, she was right!!! I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience with you in the hopes that it will help others who are seeking out the right doctor to perform their breast augmentation.

I spent over a year researching the procedure, as well as interviewing doctors. The research paid off because I feel like I found the best doctor (and the best doctor's wife and nurse!!) In Florida (and the US for that matter) to perform my procedure.

Dr. Johnston, your experience and expertise in performing this procedure (breast aug via armpit incision) is unmatched. You and your staff spent all the time I needed in getting me educated about the procedure and you added to my comfort level by explaining exactly how you personally would perform the procedure. You have the perfect blend of a highly skilled surgeon as well as a very kind and caring person.

And Kathy, you are a true gem. You were so very gracious in answering all of my questions and working with me to determine the perfect size breast for my body. I so appreciate you working with me on several occasions and making me completely comfortable with my decision.

Needless to say, I could not be happier with my results. I am a mother of two and in my 40s. My breasts went from being an A-cup, deflated and drooping to a C-cup that are full and round and just very very nice in appearance. By going through the armpit there is no scar on my breast, which I love. I am also very pleased with the symmetry, and very pleased that after a few months they became very soft and natural looking in appearance. Also, my recovery went very well. After having the surgery on a Wednesday morning I was able to go out with family on Friday night. I was extremely happy with the entire procedure in every respect and I thank you both so very much. I am so very grateful to you both!
