Available Fillers at Our Practice:
Wrinkle Fillers may be right for you if you want to:
- Improve sunken areas and folds on your face
- Add fullness to your lips
- Stimulate collagen growth to reverse the signs of aging
Injectable dermal fillers such as Juvederm® work
instantly to fill in wrinkles. Over time, the skin’s collagen
and elastic tissue deteriorate and the face loses its youthful
firmness and fullness. The normal lines and folds of the face deepen,
cheeks flatten out and lips lose their roundness.
In
the past, doctors injected animal collagen to erase wrinkles, but
some patients were allergic and the results were not always ideal.
With Juvederm® doctors now have the perfect
material to provide a safe, fast, and natural-looking improvement.
These
fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance
in our skin so there is no allergic reaction. Results last up to a
year, at which point you can return for another treatment.
An
injection treatment takes about 15 to 45 minutes (depending on the
number of areas treated) and results can be seen immediately. After
treatment you may experience some swelling, tenderness and redness.
This is a normal result of the injection. Symptoms usually disappear
in a few hours.
More information about fillers
While many people think of aging as merely getting wrinkles, it is also
commonly associated with the loss of volume in the face. Skin loses
collagen and elasticity as we age. Facial features once accentuated by
fullness can become marked by more severe contours and thin skin. Dr.
Johnston is able to help these patients by adding youthful volume to the
face. Fillers are an ideal way of achieving the desired result. The
procedure can be performed with minimal to no downtime and without the
expense associated with surgery.
• Fillers are commonly used to fill in deep smile lines and the lips.
• Facial fillers can be expected to last six to twelve months or longer.
• The procedure is short and most patients return to their normal routine immediately following the treatment.
The most popular of facial fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. Dr.
Johnston uses the Juvederm® family of fillers, which were approved for
use in the USA in 2006. HA occurs naturally in skin and these building
blocks deplete as we get older. When injected into the skin the HA
attracts water to the site resulting in a look that is soft and natural.
HA fillers are reversible, have a low risk of side-effects and the
results are long lasting. Sculptra® is another facial filler used at Dr.
Johnston’s office in addition to HA fillers. Sculptra® is unique in
that it stimulates your own collagen to volumize the face and lasts up
to 25 months. It gradually grows the collagen over weeks and months,
giving a subtle change and increasing the results over time. Dr.
Johnston also uses a popular filler, Radiesse®, which stimulates
collagen production just like Sculptra®, however it provides immediate
results for volume enhancement and lasts about a year.
While fillers are a safe solution for someone wanting to “freshen” their
look, the outcome greatly depends on the experience and skill of the
injector. It is important to make sure the person providing your
treatment has been properly trained and has experience treating the
desired area. Dr. Johnston is highly trained in the art of fillers.
Their expert knowledge of facial symmetry and balance allow them to
produce natural, youthful results.
